Syria War Live Map 🇸🇾

This map tracks the Syrian Civil War, a complex, multi-sided conflict that began in 2011. While large-scale frontline shifts have become less frequent, the conflict remains active with numerous factions controlling different territories. These include the Syrian Arab Army (supported by Russia and Iran), various opposition and jihadist groups in the northwest, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the northeast, and foreign forces including Turkey, the US, and Israel, which conduct periodic strikes.

Our platform provides a detailed operational picture by aggregating data from a multitude of OSINT sources. We monitor reports from local activists and news agencies, geolocate combat footage, and analyze statements from all involved parties. This is supplemented by ADS-B data to track movements of military transport and combat aircraft, providing insight into the air campaigns conducted by international actors.

With updates occurring approximately every five minutes, the map offers a current view of a fragmented battlespace. It documents airstrikes, artillery shelling, ground clashes, and assassinations across the country. This tool serves as a neutral, factual repository for observing the persistent violence and complex military interactions that define the current state of the Syrian conflict.

Every event pinned to the Syria map includes a title (in the original language plus automatic translations to PL/EN/UK/RU), a UTC timestamp, a category (strike, shelling, troop movement, diplomatic escalation), and a link to the original news source. Data can be filtered by date, category, or bounding box. Events older than 30 days are accessible only through the keyed REST API.

The map supports fullscreen mode, dark and light themes, infinite-scroll event lists, and — for Ukraine — an additional territorial-control layer based on publicly available cartographic data (updated daily). Every title can be reported as fake news; moderators review submissions daily.

FAQ — Syria

// Questions and answers
How often is the Syria war map updated?

The Syria war map refreshes approximately every 5 minutes. Operations in north-eastern Syria (SDF), Turkish operations, Idlib and the Latakia coast are mapped in near-real-time.

Where does the Syria war data come from?

Data is aggregated from publicly available OSINT reports: local Syrian news agencies, Kurdish sources (Rojava Information Center, ANHA), Turkish media, anti-terror coalition statements, and publicly reported social-media geolocations.

What conflict does the Syria map cover?

The map covers the Syrian conflict in its current, fragmented form: Kurdish-controlled SDF in the north-east, opposition and jihadist-held Idlib, Turkish operations along the border, and shifts in control lines after the fall of the previous regime in late 2024.

Can I use the REST API for the Syria map?

Yes. The /v1/events?region=syria endpoint is available on API and API Premium plans. You can isolate Idlib province, the Euphrates corridor or only the Turkish border zone.

Does the map cover ISIS targets?

Yes. ISIS remnants in the Syrian desert are a visible category on the map, including attacks on SDF convoys, escape attempts from al-Hol detention camps, and coalition operations in Deir ez-Zor and Raqqa provinces.
